In an effort to promote the IOU in Zimbabwe and strengthen ties between the students, Shaykh Shaibu Asali organized the first-ever get-together for students at the Harare center. The event was held on December 21, 2019, where the associate lecturer, Shaykh Ashahadu Asali, met with seventeen IOU students.
The proceedings started with an opening recital of the Qur’an followed by introductions. Students were then advised on study techniques and online learning, and reminded of the importance of sincerity and hard work in studying. Thereafter, there was an open discussion where students were given the opportunity to talk about their sentiments on the IOU scholarships and the study environment at the Harare Centre.
Before the concluding lunch, Shaykh Asali answered all questions about the IOU and general fiqh. It was resolved that this get-together should be a monthly meeting if resources permit.
