Dr Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips

Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips is a Jamaican Canadian Islamic Scholar who converted to Islam in the early seventies after journeying politically and intellectually from Christianity to Communism.

Shortly after his reversion to Islam, he embarked on a spiritual academic journey to the other side of the world seeking Islamic knowledge.

This journey took him to Saudi Arabia, where he completed his Bachelors degree in Islamic Studies in Medina and his Masters in Islamic Theology in Riyadh.

He then went on to the University of Wales, United Kingdom, where he completed his Doctorate in Islamic Theology.

Dr. Rizki Gumilar is an Assistant Professor of Arabic Grammar who pursues the field of Arabic Language and its branches. He born and raised in Majalengka Distric, Indonesia. His educational history begins from his Bachelor at Gadjah Mada University, and then getting a scholarship up to the PhD program at King Saud University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Mahmoud Ziyada is a professional and experienced Arabic teacher. He has a BA from Tanta University, a diploma in Islamic studies, and MA in Curriculum and Methodology from Ain Shams University in Cairo in 2018. He has been teaching Arabic as a foreign language since 2004 to students from different nationalities, languages and ages.in schools and online. He has authored several books in this field, mainly for Muslims who learn Arabic to understand their religion. They have been translated to some languages.

Faruk Kasisi is a Zimbabwean Arabic language and Islamic Studies scholar who specializes in teaching Arabic language to non-native speakers of other languages. He has a BA in Arabic Language degree and a Diploma in Arabic Language from the Islamic University of Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is also a holder of a Masters and a Higher Diploma degree in teaching Arabic language to non-Arabs from the Arab League Nations, Khartoum Institute of Arabic language and Sciences in Khartoum, Sudan. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in translation and Interpretation from the University of Zimbabwe, With six years experience in teaching Arabic Language and Islamic studies at a local College in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Dr Faiz Shuaibu Adam completed his BSc in 2012, MA and PhD in 2022 from the Islamic University of Madinah, from the faculty of Arabic language. He was a lecturer at the university for two years, and also a translator from English to Arabic. He has been a Qur’an teacher at Kaduna State university, published numerous research papers in various journals, and also participated in international conferences, in addition to memorization of the Qur’an with all the ten qira’at.

Dr.Mohammed Hasan obtained a BA and MA from Dar Al Ulum Cairo University, then a Ph.D. from Alexandria University in ِArabic literature in 2022. He has extensive experience in teaching Arabic to non-native students for over 19 years, and he has worked as a lecturer at IOU since 2021.

Dr Ebraheem Dawy is from Egypt. In 2003 he obtained a Master’s Degree from the Faculty of Arts at Menofia University, Egypt. He then went on to study at Ain Shams University where he gained his PhD from the Arabic Department of the Faculty of Arts in 2008.

Luqman Plato hails from Cape Town, South Africa. He studied at the Islamic University of Madinah, completing the two-year Arabic diploma course, and thereafter graduated from the Faculty of Arabic Language in 2012. He is the director of the Ma’had al-Lugha al-Arabiyyah in Cape Town since 2014.
