Having graduated from four countries and worked in two continents, Professor Dr Muhammad Ahsan is a distinguished academic. He has over three decades’ experience of research, teaching and training. In the fields of social sciences, his research has gained wide recognition. In addition to authoring several books, Professor Ahsan has produced a large number of reports and research papers published in various refereed international journals.
His salient publications include: Writing Theses and Academic Articles: A Practical Handbook for Young Researchers; Academic Theories: A Handbook for Researchers; Academic Research, Writing and Publishing: A Practical Handbook for PhD Students; The Ummah and Contemporary Global Challenges; Muslim Heritage and the 21 st Century; Education from an Islamic Perspective; Bilateral Aid and Educational Development; Post-Conflict Social Re-construction through Peace Education; Human Development in the Muslim World: From Theory to Practice; and, Women and Human Development in the Muslim World.
In addition to delivering numerous training packages on conducting academic research, Professor Ahsan has also examined a large number of PhD theses. He has extensively travelled and delivered lectures in many international conferences and seminars. It is noteworthy that his thoughts have significantly influenced in fixing priorities and directions for the Muslim World.
This can briefly be judged from the fact that some former heads of states, e.g., Malaysian Prime Minister Adbullah Badawi, Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, as well as the OIC’s Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and the Islamic Development Bank have benefited from his work.
