The Commission for University Education (CUE), based in Nairobi, Kenya, has formally granted recognition status to the International Open University (IOU) following an application made by the IOU Kenya Board of Trustees.

The recognition validates degrees obtained from IOU, facilitates the ease of transfer of credits obtained from IOU programs to other universities, and improves career, academic and international research opportunities for IOU graduates.
