IOU Participation in the 4th Annual East Africa Finance Summit (4th EAFS) 2019

Dr. Nissar Ahmad Yatoo, Head of the Department of Islamic Economics, Banking & Finance, was invited to speak  at the 4th Annual East Africa Finance Summit (4th EAFS), held from December 4-5, 2019, at the United Nations Conference Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, themed Financing Home-Grown Economic Transformation. 

During his 20-minute speech, he highlighted Islamic banking and finance as an alternative mode of financing and its relevance to countries such as Ethiopia. The main focus of the speech remained on reporting issues in Islamic financial institutions, as the topic was of great interest to the delegates who participated in the Summit. 

Dr. Nissar Yatoo also participated as a panelist on the deliberation of Digitization, Inclusion, and Access to Finance. He concluded by answering questions raised by the audience related to interest-free finance. 

The Summit was attended by hundreds of local and foreign delegates from diverse backgrounds, such as the Ministry of Finance, banks, insurance companies, academics, and other related sectors.
