IOU Vice-Chancellor Dr Cherno Omar Barry addressed the graduating class at the 10th IOU Convocation, 2024, and extended his heartiest congratulations to them and their parents. He reminded students that education is a powerful tool for positive change and urged them to utilize the knowledge they have acquired at the IOU for the betterment of humanity.

Dr. Cherno Omar Barry is a distinguished academic and has served in various official positions as the Executive Secretary at the National Human Rights Commission, The Gambia, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, and in the ministries of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Health and Social Welfare, Youth and Sports, Energy, as well as at the President’s Office. He has also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alliance Francaise, President of the Writers Association of The Gambia (WAG), and represented The Gambia National Commission for UNESCO.
