The International Open University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Cherno Omar Barry visited the Muslim Academy which hosts the Islamia Madrassa Society as well as the Islamia College during his ongoing tour of Nairobi, Kenya on 26 February 2022.

The meeting was held to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the IOU and other institutions in Kenya. The Muslim Academy has been in operation for more than 80 years and has served many generations of children. It is well respected and provides a rare opportunity in Kenya for Muslim parents to grant their children an Islamic education.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two organizations under which the IOU will support the new Islamia College in its operations and provide online courses for incoming students.

In return, the IOU will be provided access to an office, the IT room as a learning center, a hall for graduation ceremonies, etc. on the premises.
