The International Open University (IOU) was honored to host the renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Assim Al Hakeem at its Headquarters in The Gambia on Saturday, 13 December 2025, as part of his official visit to the country.

Sheikh Assim was warmly received by IOU management, staff, and students, and an interactive session was held at the IOU Conference Hall. He shared valuable insights on authentic Islamic scholarship, ethical da‘wah, and the responsibility of students in representing Islam with wisdom and integrity.

IOU also participated in the wider program of events held at Paradise Suites Hotel and the Kairaba International Conference Hall, engaging the community through student volunteers and institutional outreach activities.

The visit provided an excellent platform for student motivation, community engagement, and increased institutional visibility, reaffirming IOU’s commitment to academic excellence and service to society.
