IOU VC hosts APS Islamic Micofinance Bank management at IOU HQ, The Gambia

The IOU Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof. Makie Taal, Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) Prof. Aliyu Dahiru Muhammad and Deputy Director Mr. Sedike Cessay received the management of APS Islamic Microfinance Gambia at the University’s Headquarters on Thursday, 26th February 2026.

The Managing Director, Mr. Lamin Sanyang, and the Head of Shariah, Mr. Abdourahman Touray, paid a courtesy call to the University’s management to discuss potential partnerships and investment opportunities in Islamic finance. The discussions centered on exploring strategic collaboration, including possible scholarship support and other mutually beneficial initiatives.
The visit was a follow-up on the earlier visit paid by the DVC Academics Prof. Aliyu Dahiru Muhammad together with the Deputy Director Sedike Cessay to the bank on 17th February, 2026 to explore waqf investment opportunities in the bank and to introduce IOU for potential collaborations in areas of research, training and internships.
