In this month of March 2018, the International Open University (IOU) was pleased to announce that the government of Indonesia issued a Certificate of Equivalency to the IOU with regard to its MAIS program. It was issued by the Director-General of Learning and University Student Affairs Ministry of Research, Technology, and High Education of the Republic of Indonesia.

In June 2026, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has officially recognized the International Open University (IOU) and issued a University Status Letter confirming IOU's status as a recognized foreign higher education institution in Pakistan.
Furthermore, all accredited degree programs offered by IOU are eligible for equivalence by HEC Pakistan in accordance with the applicable policies and procedures of the Commission.
