To be considered for admission to an undergraduate program at IOU, prospective students must meet the following criteria:

General Requirements:
- Applicants must have completed their secondary education (high school) and obtained a certificate equivalent to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) or a high school diploma. This qualification must be ISCED level 3 equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 credits in major subjects in WASSCE, including English and Mathematics, are required for all BSc programs while for BA, BBA, BEd, 5 credits including English and a pass in Math will be sufficient.

Application Process:
- Complete the online application form available on the IOU website.
- Submit certified /attested copies of academic certificates, including high school diploma or equivalent, and transcripts.
- Provide a copy of a valid identification document (passport or national ID).

Additional Requirements:
- Some programs may require specific subject qualifications or additional tests, the details are available in each program’s page on the main website of IOU.
- Students who are not from countries where English is an official language must submit proof of English proficiency, such as an IELTS or TOEFL score, or appear for the English Placement Test at IOU. The details regarding the English requirement is available on the main website.
