IOU VC with IOU Students in Tanzania at CIFCA
2026-07-31 05:10:05

Pic: Prof. Makie Taal, Vice Chancellor of the International Open University (IOU), and Dr. Mohamed Salum, IOU Tanzania Representative, had the privilege of meeting some of IOU's students at the Center for Islamic Finance, Compliance and Advice (CIFCA) office on 30 July, 2026.
The session began with Dr. Mohamed Salum formally introducing Prof. Makie Taal to the students, followed by a presentation on the new program structure, built around four main pillars: research, entrepreneurship, community service, and internship.
Students were then given the floor to ask questions and seek clarification directly from the Vice Chancellor, before raising the challenges they currently face as IOU students in Tanzania — challenges the Vice Chancellor listened to closely with a view toward finding possible solutions. The floor was further opened for students to share suggestions and recommendations on how IOU could improve to become an even better place to study in Tanzania.
The students expressed great joy at the opportunity to engage directly with the Vice Chancellor and pledged their readiness to serve as ambassadors of IOU across Tanzania.
This engagement reflects IOU's continued commitment to keeping students at the heart of its growth and development.
