The primary objective of this course is to provide a framework to the students to understand individual and group behaviour in organisations. This course aims to enhance the students’ understanding and application of organisational behaviour and encourage them to apply innovative techniques to manage human resources effectively. The study may involve a case study with a live project.

These sessions will broadly cover

• The fundamentals of group behaviour
• Organisational structure, culture and change

 

Muslims today are often found lacking the essentials of strong leadership traits and lack self-motivation. This course shall also shed some light on the same and may Allaah make it a source for all to benefit from.

This course is comprised of the study of computing. It introduces the concepts that underline the computer world ranging from hardware to software. Then it discusses the fundamental building blocks of the computing system such as algorithm, Boolean logic, compilers, translators, etc. Recent developments in the computing world are also discussed such the internet, e-commerce and data warehouse.

This course is geared towards software developers who wish to acquire a solid background in the concepts, technology and tools required to develop successful software products.

This course revolves around the study behind the notion of software engineering and why it was first proposed in 1968, at a conference held to discuss, what is known as ‘software crisis’ (Naur and Randell, 1969). While the software crisis seems inevitable and unavoidable, the study and the process in the software engineering, has become a solution to these crisis. The crisis comprises of problems associated with how software are being developed, how do we keep up by the growing demand of volume within the existing software and the software characteristics itself, due to the weaknesses of the personnel involved in the software development. Therefore, software engineering’s main objectives are to be able to produce a quality software system, at an economical cost and definitely within the stipulated time given.

Operating systems are central to computing activities. An operating system is a program that acts as an intermediary between a user of a computer and the computer hardware. Two primary aims of an operating system are to manage resources (e.g. CPU time, memory) and to control users and software. Operating system design goals are often contradictory and vary depending of user, software, and hardware criteria. This course describes the fundamental concepts behind operating systems, and examines the ways that design goals can be achieved. This course provides an opportunity to learn about operating systems both theoretically and practically.

This course will provide students with a general overview of databases, how to develop a database properly with its design principle, Relational Modelling, Relational Algebra, Structured Query Language (SQL), and the use of databases in applications. Some hot topics around database applications will also be introduced like Data Warehouse, Data Mining, Distributed Applications, etc. The field of database has inspired many other fields in computer science hence it is really important to be mastered also because it will play more and more important role in future applications.

This course is comprised of a study of both the basic and advanced concepts of the computer communication and networking, which is a particular way of making different devices share information in a systematic way so that it can be efficiently used in large organizations. It covers different kinds of communication architectures and various modes of transferring of data like wired or wireless, which are meant for different kinds of applications, and some are highly specialized to specific tasks.

The course is designed to study interactive systems from a human-centered perspective. The importance of the study of human-computer interaction, information architecture, and information design may be traced back to the end of the last century. The centrality of digital technologies, wireless communications, and new sensing devices, as symbols of style and efficiency, cannot be undermined in our lives today. Diverse ends are sought after by a vast group of people leading to an interesting mix of motives, methods, and technologies. 

This has led to the increasing need for interaction designers and software engineers to develop user interfaces and software systems that are engaging, functional and yet meet the dynamic demands of our time. 

 

Our focus of the study will be on the examination of principles and methods of human-computer interaction (HCI) and highlighting issues that may arise in the same. Furthermore, we aim to understand the designing of engaging interactions between people and technologies that stay relevant and resourceful for all users in the broad sense of the word.

This course is structured to build the young Muslim Professional: It is a stratified system clearly highlighting the meanings of Professionalism, Management and Leadership; demystifying the misnomers and taking a profound look at all three to bring a full and clear concept in the minds of the students regarding how to implement them and yet still not disregard the Islamic teachings.

This course involves the understanding of various concepts of data warehousing containing historical data. Such data warehouse are created for analytical purposes, including the use of the tools of data mining and knowledge discovery, and storage.

This course is about the network security, which consists of the provisions and policies adopted by a network administrator to prevent and monitor unauthorized access, misuse, modification, or denial of a computer network and network-accessible resources.
During this course, we will come to know about the security issues faced at different network layers, and methods used to combat and prevent such situations.

This is an introductory course designed to familiarize students with the basic topics in management. The subject areas that will be covered include: organisational culture, defining external environment, managing global environment, social responsibility and managerial ethics, decision-making, foundations of planning, strategic management, planning tools and techniques, organisational structure and design, communication and IT, human resource management, managing change and innovation, foundations of behaviour, groups & teams, motivating employees, leadership, foundations of control, operations and value chain management, small business, new venture creation and entrepreneurship, communication issues in today’s organisations and managing for quality.

This course aims to provide insight into basic statistical concepts with emphasis on practical applications. Mathematical formulae will be kept to a minimum. The theory and the methods of analysis will be extensively illustrated with examples relating to a wide variety of different fields. We start with concise graphical and numerical descriptions of data obtained from observational or experimental studies. The most common and frequently used probability distributions of discrete and continuous variables will be presented. Statistical inference and draws conclusions about a population based on sampled data will be discuss in details.

These are based on a book entitled The Best in Islam series which was written by Dr. Bilal Philips.
