The Secretary General of the Gambia National Commission for UNESCO, Ms. Maimuna Sidibeh, and her team today paid a courtesy visit to the International Open University (IOU). The delegation was warmly received by the IOU Vice Chancellor Prof Makie Taal and the IOU Director of Operations Mr. Kebba Jaiteh.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss areas of mutual interest and strengthen collaboration between the National Commission for UNESCO and IOU. Discussions focused on education, teacher training, accreditation, research, community outreach, the UNESCO Chair initiative, and expanding access to quality education through innovative and online learning platforms.

Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to working together to promote educational development, capacity building, and UNESCO’s mission in The Gambia and beyond.
