The IOU Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Aliyu Dahiru Muhammad paid a courtesy visit to the President of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Israr on Thursday 4th May, 2026.

During the visit he informed the president that the purpose of his visit was to strengthen the existing relationship between IOU and MAAUN. He added that the two universities had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the management of IOU is planning to visit Nigeria where they would also visit the MAAUN to plan for implementation of the MOU. During the visit, MAAUN President Prof. Dr. Muhammad Israr thanked IOU for the collaboration.

In addition, the focal person Dr. Hamza welcomed the collaboration and implementation plan that cut across research, teaching, staff and student exchange, mentorship and internships among others. He promised to convey the message to the MAAUN Founder Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo and ensure proper timing for the visit.
In the same vein, the IOU DVC Academics visited his counterpart DVC Academics of Bayero University Kano (BUK) Prof. Ahmad Muhammad Tsauni as well the Registrar of the University Dr. Haruna Aliyu. During the visit he informed the duo about the IOU management's planned visit and the need to renew the existing MOU. The duo welcomed the plan as BUK is extending its collaborating hand to global Universities like IOU.
