Highlights Day 4 : IOU VC Kenya Tour

The IOU VC, Prof Makie Taal had a meeting with Islamia College on Wednesday, 22nd July 2026. The meeting focused on how these two institutions of learning can partner in the future.

The IOU VC Prof Makie Taal was invited by Iqra Radio and Podcast to talk about why Muslims need education. Iqra Radio is the pioneer of Islamic broadcasting in the whole of the East African region.
It was a good opportunity for Muslims to know the role that Islamic higher education institutions play in uplifting the society.
The program was hosted by Iqra's Hassan Juma.


The IOU VC, Prof Makie Taal made a courtesy call at the Gulf African Bank, Nairobi. The Gulf African Bank is the largest Islamic-based bank in the whole of East and Central Africa. The talks were centered on future collaboration.

Gulf African Bank was represented by Sr Saada Mohammed - Head of Business, Sr Fathia Abdille - Head of Marketing, Sr Irene Cherwon - Head of HR and Br Nasser Abdulwahab - Senior Manager Shariah.
The IOU Kenya Representative, Br Theophil Kipoma also attended the meeting.

Early this week, the IOU VC, Prof Makie Taal visited the Commission for University Education Kenya. This was one of the most important meetings in his itinerary. IOU sought guidance in areas of accreditation and collaboration. CUE provided good technical guidance. CUE was represented by the Deputy CEO Prof Eunice Marete and Dr Jackson Too - Head of Research.
The IOU Kenya Representative, Theophil Kipoma, was also present.
