The National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority (NAQAA), represented by the Director of Research and Innovation, Sambujang Marreh, and Alieu Ceesay, paid a working visit to the International Open University (IOU) on 17 June, 2026. They were received by the IOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Makie Taal, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) Prof. Aliyu Dahiru Muhammad, and members of the University’s senior management team.

The meeting focused on NAQAA’s newly developed institutional research questionnaire aimed at benchmarking research output, innovation, and community engagement across higher education institutions. Discussions also explored opportunities for strengthening collaboration in research development, capacity building, and access to national research funding opportunities.

Both NAQAA and IOU reaffirmed their commitment to advancing research excellence, strengthening institutional quality assurance, and fostering greater collaboration in support of higher education development in The Gambia and beyond.
