The International Open University (IOU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Makie Taal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of the IOU with the Executive Director/ National Chief Imam, Imam Fuad Adeyemi, of Alhabibiyya Islamic Center, an Abuja-based organization in Nigeria.

During the signing both parties expressed satisfaction with the areas for collaboration and promised to work closely to ensure successful implementation of the MOU, establishing a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening education, capacity development and opportunities for students and staff.

Through the agreement, both institutions will collaborate in key areas including scholarship opportunities, staff training and capacity development, student support, and educational engagement.

One of the key components of the partnership is the provision of scholarship opportunities for eligible beneficiaries, allowing students to pursue higher education and develop knowledge and skills that can contribute to their personal development and the advancement of their communities.

The MOU will also provide opportunities for training and professional development of Al-Habibiyyah staff and support the establishment of a physical space for IOU students, providing a conducive environment where students can receive support, interact with fellow learners and participate in activities that complement their academic journey.

The collaboration also creates a platform for both institutions to explore further areas of mutual interest, including Islamic education, research, leadership development, professional training and community development.

The IOU DVC (Academics) Prof. Aliyu Dahiru Muhammad and Alhaji Garba Sani served as witnesses for their respective organizations. During deliberations both parties agreed to start developing the MOA in earnest.
