Pic: The invited speakers of the Capacity Building on Zakat and Waqf workshop paid a courtesy visit to His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, leader of Muslims in Nigeria, Saad Abubakar FCA, mni, on Monday 10 August, 2026.

The IOU Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) Prof. Aliyu Dahiru Muhammad, extended the goodwill message of the IOU Founder-Chancellor Dr. Bilal Philips and the management of IOU during the visit. His Eminence warmly welcomed the delegation and extended his goodwill message on the occasion of the program that started on Sunday, 9 August, 2026. The program was co-sponsored and organised by the Islamic Development Bank and Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment Commission headed by Muhammad Lawal Maidoki.

The resource persons came from Indonesia, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Uganda, The Gambia and Nigeria. The attendees represent over 15 countries and organizations. The purpose of the program is to build capacity for Zakat and Waqf organizations in West Africa and Nigeria.
