IOU VC Visits Arqam Islamic School, Musita

Pic: The International Open University Vice Chancellor Prof. Makie Taal, accompanied by the IOU Uganda Representative Br. Abdala Bogere and the Center Manager, visited Arqam Islamic School in Musita following the land donation offer received last month from Sh. Mustafa Yazid, the school's Director. The visit confirmed the family's commitment to donating the school's land and existing infrastructure for the establishment of a higher education institution.
Prof. Taal recommended prioritizing the Musita project over the earlier Yumbe proposal due to the political challenges affecting its implementation.
The property, originally donated to Sh. Mustafa by his father, Mr. Yazid Waiswa, as Sadaqatul Jariyah, aligns with IOU's mission of providing Islamized higher education. During the visit, members of the Yazid family and local community leaders attended the meeting to reaffirm their support for the project. At Dhuhr prayer, Prof. Taal was also given the opportunity to address the Muslim community, where he introduced IOU's academic programs and encouraged prospective students to enroll.
The proposed site is strategically located to serve four districts, including Jinja City, a predominantly Muslim area that currently has no Islamic university. The donation provides both the land and infrastructure required for NCHE accreditation, leaving only the introduction of at least one face-to-face program to complement IOU's online offerings.

On the return journey, Prof. Makie Taal, accompanied by the IOU Uganda Representative and the Director ArQam, paid a courtesy visit to the Kampala Campus of the Islamic University in Uganda.
