Speech from the Chancellor of IOU

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.

It is a great honor and pleasure to welcome you all to the 8th International Conference on Integrated Sciences (ICIS) 2026, organised by the International Open University (IOU), The Gambia.

Building on the success of our previous conferences, ICIS continues to provide an international platform where scholars, researchers, educators, and professionals can exchange knowledge, present new research, and develop meaningful academic collaborations. 

The theme of this conference, “Transforming Knowledge through Innovation, Ethics, and Digital Excellence” is both timely and important. We are living in an era of rapid technological and social transformation. Artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and new approaches to research are reshaping education, business, science, and society. However, innovation must always be guided by ethics, responsibility, and values that benefit humanity.

At the International Open University, we believe that knowledge should not remain isolated within individual disciplines. The integration of Islamic knowledge with contemporary sciences can help us address complex social, economic, technological, environmental, and educational challenges. Researchers therefore have an important responsibility to ensure that their work contributes positively to individuals, communities, and society.

I encourage all participants to use this conference not only to present their research but also to exchange ideas, establish research networks, and develop future collaborations. Conferences become truly meaningful when the discussions and relationships developed during the event lead to continued research and positive societal impact.

I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the Conference Chair, Convener, organizing committees, reviewers, speakers, researchers, presenters, and all those who have contributed their valuable time and expertise to making this conference possible.

May Allah make this conference beneficial, guide our pursuit of knowledge, and enable us to use knowledge and innovation for the betterment of humanity.
