The International Open University (IOU) participated in the FIRST–PURA (gmCSIRT) Cybersecurity Training for Critical National Infrastructure, held from 27th to 30th April 2026 at Bakadaji. The training was organized by the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) in collaboration with gmCSIRT and delivered by the FIRST Africa regional liaison team.

IOU was represented by the Executive Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, Sr. Mira Goba, and IT Officer Br. Masaneh Cham. The participation reflects IOU’s commitment to strengthening institutional cybersecurity capacity and supporting national efforts in securing critical infrastructure.

The objective of the training was to strengthen cybersecurity awareness, preparedness, and incident response capabilities across critical national infrastructure institutions in The Gambia. The program covered key technical areas including practical OSINT, MISP, Memory Forensics, Static and Dynamic Malware Analysis, and concluded with a Cyber Drill to enhance practical response skills.
