Pic: The management of Bayero University Kano (BUK) honored the International Open University (IOU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Makie Taal during a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, BUK, Prof. Haruna Musa.

The IOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Makie Taal and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) Prof. Aliyu Dahiru Muhammad are on a special visit to Nigeria to establish partnerships and engage with the National Universities Commission (NUC) on recognition. The IOU delegation was warmly received by the VC BUK Prof. Haruna Musa and the principal officers of the University.

The IOU DVC (Academics) introduced the IOU VC to the management and thanked them for giving them an audience despite their tight schedules. According to the Director International Institute of Islamic Banking, BUK Prof. Usman Shuaib Zunnurain ably represented by the Deputy Director Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Abdullahi, there was an existing MOU signed between IOU and BUK since 2017. He added that there was a proposal in 2020 for the set up of 1-MAS and Exam Center at BUK which is yet to materialize.

According to the IOU VC, the focus could be on research, joint conferences, developing a study center and supervision among others. Both universities agreed to develop working documents for implementation.
